A visiter à l'ombre des remparts !

Un centre de la vieille ville entièrement piéton, des échoppes artisanales, restaurants divers et variés.
Rues propres, légèrement ombragées par des guirlandes en papier.
Fortifications en excellents état.

Sunrise, dolphins and vomit ☀️

Early start, the boat left at 06:20 from the pier at Alcúdia beach. Unfortunately there was a power cut at our apartment overnight and the air conditioning stopped working from 3:15am so I was a awake from this point in the sweltering heat until my alarm went off at 05:30, we quickly got ready in the dark then made good with our legs to the pier and got the boat in time along with 50 or so other tired looking tourists. The sunrise was nice but there was a larger than expected swell running that morning in the Med and after about 30 minutes or so having left the shelter of the bay to the open sea, lots of vomiting ensued; there were many casualties, lots of heads on tables and leaning out of windows. I’d estimate 75% of customers couldn’t have cared less about seeing dolphins at this point and just wanted to lay down and die instead, the sea sickness seemed to be catching, my daughter vomited out of a window, as I held her hair back from the blast I noticed that there was stomach contents from previous trips that had gather on the window sill. I was amazed I didn’t puke at this point too and began to feel very sorry for those poor dolphins we were there to see, a carrot (there’s always a carrot) could have got stuck in their blow holes and potentially suffocated them. Anyway we saw the dolphins and those of us still standing appreciated this, they are amazing animals and we’re a sincere joy to witness albeit wishing we were dead at the same time. As we circled the pod to watch these magnificent creatures other boats joined us, the passengers of which could also be seen unwillingly emptying the contents of their stomachs over the side (again poor dolphins).
Breakfast was included in the price (€170 total for a family of 2 adults 2 children) I couldn’t face it.
Thankfully after 20 minutes or so we turned in the direction of dry land, an hour or so later when we arrived back at the pier again, I ran to the beach and kissed the sand, so did many others, there were tears, it’s was like returning from a war zone.
The giddy sickness feeling stayed with us all that day, on reflection I imagine the feeling would be the same for a dolphin that had been captured that morning and dragged back to my apartment by it’s tail then dumped in the swimming pool to die.
