What To Expect

Palma de Mallorca
Our Tour begins in Camí de la Escollera in front of the Cathedral of Palma at around 09:15 hrs.
Palma was founded as a Roman camp upon the remains of a Talaiotic settlement. The city was subjected to several Vandal raids during the fall of the Western Roman Empire, then reconquered by the Bizantine Empire, then colonised by the Moors (who called it Medina Mayurqa) and, in the 13th century, by James I of Aragon.

Soller
Soller is a beautiful village located three kilometres from the Port on the North East coast of Mallorca and is known as the commercial and cultural centre on the Serra de Tramontana. It emerges from a valley surrounded by mountains called the ‘el valle de Los Naranjos’ (the valley of orange trees) and the beautiful, central square which is the main meeting point of the village, is surrounded by many small, cobbled streets. Upon our arrival in Sóller, the commercial and cultural center of the Sierra, we are greeted by the main square of Sóller, which is perfect for sitting on a terrace and observing the church of San Bartolomé and the Banco de Sóller building.

Port de Soller
The Port of Sóller is a beautiful natural port located in the northwest of the island and an important center of tourist interest. A small treasure coveted in ancient times by privateers that offers us an unrepeatable landscape in which the smell of orange blossom mixes with the aroma of the sea. The port and the town of Sóller are connected by an old wooden tram that preserves all its aesthetics and original decoration and that we can admire while strolling along the lively promenade of the port.

El Tren de Soller
On October 4, 1913, the first electric tram line in Mallorca was inaugurated, which ran between Sóller and Puerto de Sóller.
The construction of the Sóller tram began after the inauguration of the Palma-Sóller railway line. The project for this line was designed and directed by Pedro Garau, and 4,868 meters of track were laid. The iron bridge over the Torrent Major stands out.
In the beginning, the tram had a power plant located in the Sóller station that was powered by a 65-horsepower explosion engine that worked with a Siemens-Schuckert dynamo, providing a direct current of 600 volts.
Although the Sóller tram was designed to transport passengers, it was also used to transport goods to the port.

Brilliant train ride, great views, I was expecting it to be packed but there was plenty of room.I got my ticket from the station on the day, (surprisingly no que) and got straight on the train. A Lovely scenic ride to Soller then a rickety old tram down to the sea .I got a single ticket which was 18 euros for the train and 7 for the tram. All in all my favourite part of my holiday.
Rushed, but excellent nonetheless

Just a tiny bit hurried in both Soller port and town, but this trip is all about the tram and train
The tram is sedate and beautiful, the train is so traditional and the scenery fantastic
All in all more than worth the cost, loved it
Great day trip from Palma

Great experience, would recommend this tour. Soller was great, it is a beautiful spot. The only drawback is there isn’t enough time to explore on your own, we only had 1.5 hours and by the time you grab a quick sandwich (not sitting down etc to eat) , you feel very rushed. However, we would do this tour again .
1/2 Day Tour of Soller and Soller Port

The views from the train and at the port we’re quite spectacular. The village of Sóller was lovely and quaint albeit touristy. Our tour guide seemed relatively knowledgeable about the area and spoke 3 languages. Unfortunately with her particular accent, it was sometimes difficult to understand when she spoke English. Then she was frustrated when she was asked to repeat her instructions. There were a lot of instructions. It might be useful to have them in writing so the guide won’t be upset when asked to repeat them.
Decent tour but disagreeable agent in Palma

The trip itself was quite nice: we went to all the key spots to be seen and Port de Soller and Soller were beautiful. The guide's language skills were impressive. However, the agency person organising the trip from Palma was very rude. We booked a morning tour and he changed it to afternoon. He was very curt over the phone, did not apologise for the change, did not want to listen and overall gave the impression that I was wasting his time by asking questions.
